For the fourth year in a row, the Club is grateful to Carolee for arranging for the Christmas party to be held at the EAGLE RIDGE ESTATE Clubhouse, a really superb venue for the function. This year I was unable to attend the pre-party hike around the Beacon Hill conservancy, so can only assume as according to tradition that there was in fact a pre-party hike.

Again as has become customary, Brigitta started the party off with some really arbitrary, yet intriguing questions, which surprisingly some members of the club knew the answers to and were rewarded for their efforts with a suitably themed little Lindt chocolate "Father Xmas". Following the quiz Club members got down to braaing and enjoying our "bring & share" Xmas Lunch.

Theme this year was "Wizards" and once again our Master-of-ceremonies, Brigitta (see pic 1 above), was dressed for the occasion! If my memory serves me right in the "Best-dressed" competition she took the prize for best-dressed Wizard!

Congratulations to Katy Hart who won first prize for her Hike Report on the Blinkwater Trail (8-9th October 2016) and to Penny Purchase, who came second in this category. Brigatta remarked how impressed the judges were by the standard of the Katy and Penny's reports.

First Prize for the coveted "Photo-of-the-year" award this year went to Dave Sclanders, a well deserved prize-winner as Dave is one of the Club's most consistent submitter of hike reports and photos. Second place went to Keith Ashton and third place to Alistair Nixon. The winning and placed photos are shown below:

After the prize giving, following suitable delay for "lounging around", Santa Clause and his rather Hawaiian styled Scary Hairy Faerie took center stage to give out the presents as recorded in the following photo, as the saying goes "Great fun was had by all!"
