CONGRATULATIONS!!! To Moira Filmer, Libby Deysel and Brian Henwood for earning 1st, 2nd and 3rd places respectively in the Club's inaugral Report Writing competition, and also to Dave Sclanders who gathered up 1st and 2nd prizes in the Photograph of the year competition Dave's pics are shown below - I will provide a link to the winning reports as soon as I have confirmation as to which they are.
I may be open to correction but I think the following are their award winning reports:

Moira Filmer on the "Mini Traverse"
Libby Deysel on "Cumberland Nature Reserve"
Brian Henwood on the "Weekend at Cobham"
Well done to ALL the contributors it is largely your contributions that make this website what it is and I for one am grateful and recognise the effort which goes into the reports (not to mention the two cameras that Dave has accidentally submersed in watery tarns in his efforts to stretch a little further)
.
Dave Sclanders winning photos. More of Dave's pics can be seen in his Bergfree newletters - well worth a visit.
Awards for the above were made at the recent Xmas/Orienteering Party held on Mark & Mary's farm “Chiarella” in the Karkloof area. According to early reports there were no casualties this year though an unconfirmed report indicates the orienteering skills of certain of the teams boarded on what might be termed "exploratory". Breaking news is that Chairman Dave fell backwards over one of the farm dogs and that the ensuing "yelp" did not come for the dog.
The South Africa Weather Service has an incredibly informative site which I have provided a link to directly from our front page. The weather page we link to is for the KwaZulu-Natal region and from there you can call up two day forecasts for a range of localities - Pietermaritzburg, Giant's Castle, Mooiriver etc. If you wish to see the seven day forecast you need to register with SA Weather - this is a simple process just follow the "Register" link on their Home page
According to the Calendar
the Climb Mt Kenya crew are off on their trip in a day or so - look forward to their report back - everything of the best to you guys. While on about the calendar I hope you have noted the inclusion of the "Phases of the Moon" in the new calendar - you can plan your moolight hikes, but don't forget to double check the weather site for cloud cover...
